Can power undermine money?
This may seem a silly question but it is not. The answer depends on where in the world you live in. Let's find out.
Mikael Khodorkovsky was the wealthiest man in Russia until 2003, with a fortune estimated to be worth $15 billion. He was arrested by the order of Vladimir Putin and was rotten in jail for 10 years. His billions did not help him because he messed with the most powerful person. The wealthy people were not safe under Saddam or Gaddafi government either.
The Saudi prince Alwaleed is worth $ 19 billion. He was jailed by the Saudi Crown prince. He has been recently released after he made some deeds with the crown prince.
But Jeff Bezos or Mark Zuckerberg will never face the tragedy like Khodorkovsky and Alwaleed. They have money and they have power. The political power is temporary in the free world. The wealthy people have the power lifelong.
I am not trying to find philosophical aspects of power. I mean here power as authority, command and control. I am specially talking about political power.
My point is: In dictator ruled countries and kingdoms, the power is far more significant than money.
But in the free world, nothing is more significant than money.
